Cabernet Franc is a very old variety which is still dominant in parts of the Loire Valley and Bordeaux. This wine derives from grapes grown in our Valley View Vineyard, east of Sol ... morevang in the Santa Ynez Valley and was aged for 19 months in 1-5 year old French oak barrels. 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
Valley View Vineyard

2003 was a warm year which allowed us to hand harvest the late ripening Cabernet fruit by mid October. This truly Bordeaux styled blend is comprised of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% M ... moreerlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petite Verdot, and 2% Malbec. With this vintage we returned to the practice of using small batch, open top fermenters and hand punching to mix the cap and the juice. Aging was carried out in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new. The resulting wine is dark and saturated with color. This ripe, well sculpted Cabernet in the Bordeaux tradition is ample in aromas of black currants, a hint of violet and spicy oak which lead to smooth cassis-like flavors. This elegant wine will benefit from up to seven or eight years of additional cellaring.
Gold Medal Winner - Grand Harvest Wine Competition and at the West Coast Wine Competition.
