Port wine is a sweet Portuguese fortified wine from the Douro Valley in the northern provinces of Portugal. It is often served as a dessert wine. Several imitations of Port are produced around the world in several countries—most notably Australia, South Africa, India and the United States. However, under European Union guidelines, only the product from Portugal may be labeled as Port. In a similar vein, Federal law in the United States mandates that the Portuguese-made product be labeled Porto or Vinho do Porto.

The 2003 vintage is produced from jammy zin ...morefandel fruit that provided the basis of this tantalizingly and densely flavored Port. The Zinfandel wine was provided to Germain-Robin who used it to produce the brandy, which was added to the wine. The Port is aged for 30 months in French oak.

Enjoy the 2003 Zinfandel Port after a meal paired with the delicious chocolate blackberry cake (recipe included) or a sharp cheddar cheese. Share it with a friend and wait for the “Wow!”
