Nestled high in the eastern hills, Rutherford Hill Winery commands a spectacular view of Napa Valley's Rutherford Bench. From a handful of the most select Napa vineyards Rutherford Hill continues its tradition of crafting legendary wines. In 1976, while the world was just beginning to notice the Napa Valley, the founders of Rutherford Hill recognized a unique opportunity. They believed that the Valley's climate and soil, similar to Pomerol, were well suited to Merlot and were among the first to pioneer what has become one of Napa's premier varietals. | Rutherford, CA Phone: (707) 963-1871 Website: http://www.rutherfordhill.com Appellation: Rutherford

2003 Zinfandel Port
Our Zinfandel Port is released each October and is offered to wine club members first, so you have a chance to get it before it is gone. The 2003 vintage is produced from jammy zin ... morefandel fruit that provided the basis of this tantalizingly and densely flavored Port. The Zinfandel wine was provided to Germain-Robin who used it to produce the brandy, which was added to the wine. The Port is aged for 30 months in French oak.
Enjoy the 2003 Zinfandel Port after a meal paired with the delicious chocolate blackberry cake (recipe included) or a sharp cheddar cheese. Share it with a friend and wait for the “Wow!” | |
Merlot

2003 Merlot
Dark cherries, rich chocolate and a hint of oaky sweetness abound in this merlot. For anyone who doesn’t know this grape, a glass could be a mind-altering event. A stellar exampl ... moree of why Rutherford Hill is King of the Merlot world. Sufficient easy charms to work on its own as an aperitif; enough going on to complement a long list of edibles. More uses than a Swiss Army knife and much easier to operate. Enjoy!

Sangiovese
|
2003 Sangiovese
Sangiovese, also known as Brunello or Sangioveto, is the primary grape in the famous Chianti appellation in Italy. Sangiovese was brought to California by Italian immigrants, many ... moreof whom settled in the Napa Valley. With the many micro climates that exist in the Napa Valley, Sangiovese thrives and produces great wines. Rutherford Hill’s 2003 Sangiovese shows the full potential of this varietal. Ruby in color, this wine has an aroma profile of strawberry jam, ripe plums that open up into cherries with notes of hazelnut and caramel. In the pallet, the wine is smooth with alcohol and acids existing in complete harmony with the tannins to create finesse in the finish. In other words, “Alzi il vostro vetro a questo vino!”

Cabernet Sauvignon
|
2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon reminds us all why Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is so widely enjoyed! This wine beautifully expresses the power and flavor of the top-tier, skillfully ... more farmed vineyards used in its creation. The wine was artistically blended utilizing all five classic Bordeaux varietals. The aromas and flavors tip towards raspberry, black cherries, and cassis. These flavors dance among the rich, velvety tannins and leave a long chocolate/espresso finish. Bright, juicy, red fruit characters supported by layers of dark chocolate, vanilla, espresso, cedar, nutmeg and cinnamon make the wine intriguing and delightful to drink.

Rosé

2004 Rose of Merlot Napa Valley
Americans suddenly seem to realize what people along the Mediterranean Coast have known for centuries: rosé can be every bit as compelling as red or white wine, if it's made the r ... moreight way. For us, that means using 100% Napa Valley fruit; barrel fermenting and sur-lie aging the wine for added richness; and striving for balance and complexity, the common denominators for all great wines.
Brisk and refreshing, reminiscent of fresh strawberries, raspberries and plums. This vintage is drinking beautifully right now and is the perfect apertif wine!

Chardonnay

2005 Chardonnay Napa Valley
This wine was made with traditional Burgundian practices. Healthy fermentations allowed Sur lie aging from harvest until the first racking 9 months later. Battonage, stirring of th ... moree lees, occurred two times a month to integrate extra body and complexity. Some of the finest French oak barrels from the regions of Vosges, Nevers and Centere of France yield the roasted nuts and spices. Fruit and minerality are the signature of Rutherford Hill's Chardonnay vineyards. The 2005 Rutherford Hill Chardonnay will accompany Thanksgiving or any Holiday meal.
