Merlot is a red wine grape that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. Merlot-based wines usually have medium body with hints of berry, plum, and currant. Its softness and fleshiness, combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot an ideal grape to blend with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon. This flexibility has helped to make it one of the most popular red wine varietals in the United States and Chile.

Food Pairing: Pairs well with Mexican foods and Indian coconut curries, as well as duck, rabbit and seafood. Try served with a barbecue picnic of hot dogs or hamburgers. Also great with Spaghetti Bolognese.

It fills the mouth with black cherry, blackberry, black licorice, plum, hints of nutmeg and spicy oak followed by toasty vanilla in the smooth finish. This medium-bodied wine is well balanced and approachable with a good combination of acid and tannins.

We didn't look to break any stylistic boundaries with this wine, but we aimed squarely for a purely delicious, every day red wine that virtually all of us can enjoy.

2003 was an excellent vintage in Sonoma County. Cool weather in early spring was followed by good heat in the summer and ideal warm temperatures in September. This balance of weath ...moreer conditions allowed the grapes to experience a â€œlong hang timeâ€ to develop rich flavors and ripe, supple tannins. With this vintage our winemaking focus continues its shift to smaller production lots using this concentrated fruit. The resulting wine demonstrates flavors of ripe plum, black cherry, cassis and spice. While the composition may vary slightly from vintage to vintage, this Bordeaux style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec consistently delivers the rich, full-bodied Merlot you have come to expect from Lambert Bridge Winery.

The complexity of this wine allows it to be partnered with a wide range of foods. Pair with mushroom ravioli, eggplant parmesan or chocolate fondue with strawberries.

Vibrant aromas of fresh raspberry, black cherry, sweet toasty oak and spice characterize this vintage of Merlot. The flavors are full and round, fulfilling the promise of the brigh ...moret aromatics. A rich supple texture and silky polished tannins give the wine a long, lingering finish.

With 16 months in French Oak barrels and a full year in the bottle, this vintage is complex and delicious, showing nuances of cocoa and warm brown spice.

Very enjoyable now, this wine will continue to improve for at least 5-7 years when cellared properly.

We recommend serving with Grilled Pork Tenderloin, Pan Seared Duck Breasts with Lentils or fresh baked Chocolate Chip Cookies.

The fruit flavors are dense, and the tannins mature â€“ byproducts of careful winemaking and an indication the wine will age well. I think of this as Old World style, a classic Right Bank Bordeaux blend reflecting Carneros terroir. A serious Merlot, the wine is rich, complex and lasting.

The 2001 Carneros Merlot has both substance and structure, a tasteful match for full-flavored lamb or wild duck dishes. I also confidently pair this rich wine with spicy, salty dishes such as Spaghetti alla Puttanesca.

The core of the 2003 Reserve Merlot blend consists of lots from several vineyards in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. The Oâ€™Brien family vineyard in the Oak Knoll District south of Yountville has produced consistently high quality since our first production from there in 2000. Both regions are in the cooler, fog-influenced southern end of the valley. We included a small lot of Petit Verdot from La Herradura on Conn Valley Road to add some depth and richness to the wineâ€™s structure.
