Sometimes referred to as Gewürz or Traminer, Gewurztraminer is a white wine grape variety that performs best in cooler climates. It is known for its spicy characteristics. The name literally means Spice Traminer, and derives from the grape being a highly aromatic variant of its parent, simply called Traminer.
More information on Gewurztraminer
Food Pairing: Pairs well with Chinese and Thai cuisines, lemon grass dishes and Asian spring rolls. Try with sweet and sour flavors as well as ham, spicy barbecue ribs and hamburgers.

2006 Gewürztraminer
Russian River Valley

We have sourced the grapes for our Gewürztraminer from the same vineyard in the Russian River Valley AVA for over twenty years. The gentle sloping terrain on the vineyards allows ...more for good soil drainage and healthy vines that produce concentrated grapes with intense varietal character. We harvested the grapes for this wine on September 18 and 21, 2006.

Our 2006 Gewürztraminer exhibits the typical varietal aromas of rose petal and lychee. These floral, perfumed aromas are balanced with zesty tangerine peel and grapefruit on the nose. A long, slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks ensures that the wine retains these bright aromatics. A soft mouthfeel and balanced citrus flavors of lemon and grapefruit lead to a clean finish.

2007 Gewurztraminer
Russian River Valley

From the glass, the nose is greeted with an amazing array of tropical fruits like mango and papaya. Also on the nose, white flower blossoms like jasmine, honeysuckle or gardenia. ...more The combination of tropical fruit and floral seem to indicate a slightly sweet wine but with the first sip it is clear that the wine bone dry. Mango, papaya and crisp pear greet the palate. The fruit is set atop a creamy texture which comes from the fermentation and partial aging in old, French oak barrels. Combined with the fruit are distinct spice elements like clove or pumpkin pie, a trademark of this varietal. One of the ultimate food wines, Gewurztraminer will pair with a range of food from light, Asian cuisine to traditional Thanksgiving day foods like turkey and stuffing.

2004 Corazón Gewürztraminer
Anderson Valley

Each year I produce a small lot of Gewürztraminer from a 30-year-old vineyard in the Anderson Valley, which is clearly the best area in California for the variety. Inspired by Alsa ...moretian wines, the Corazon is fermented to dryness. Made this way, Gewürztraminer cries out for food.

The 2004 is my favorite Corazón Gewürztraminer to date. Budbreak was early in 2004 and the rest of the season continued apace, resulting in the earliest harvest in anyone's memory. The ripening season was very even, with no extreme heat spikes, yielding grapes of uncommon intensity. Complex aromas include pear, honeysuckle, honeycomb, wildflowers, lychee, grapefruit zest and chamomile. The flavors are rich with citron and vanilla flavors and subtle spice notes. Creamy and full in the mouth, it has a long crisp finish.

2006 D'Argenzio Gewurztraminer
Field Blend

Since we’re among friends, it’s okay to just call it “Ge-voorts”. This noble grape is well-known in Germany and Alsace, where it is produced in a range of styles from crisply dry t ...moreo rich and sweet. Our Gewurztraminer has medium body with a whisper of sweetness. The 2006 vintage presents a flamboyant array of aromas, true
to the varietal. Scents of pear and lychee are accented with tones of honey, light jasmine and a sprinkling of white pepper. Sip this wine and you’re reminded of a tropical fruit salad highlighted by pear and pineapple. A characteristic spiciness adds dimension to the wine. Gewurztraminer’s exotic flavors make it a good match with Thai food and other Asian cuisines, or chicken with mango salsa. We also like it in the afternoons, paired with a rich, creamy cheese.

2005 Gewürztraminer

Gewürztraminer comes in several styles, and all are increasingly popular. Our Valley Oaks style is made with a traditional taste profile, just a bit sweet but oh so perfect at holi ...moreday or any time you need a wine to complement a meal. Crisp acidity is a hallmark of this wine. Grapes are sourced from cool-climate regions of California (hot weather just won’t do for this varietal) and we treat the grapes to a slow, cold fermentation averaging 50° in nothing but stainless steel tanks. The absence of oak is purposeful.

2000 Late Harvest Gewurztraminer
Monterey County

GAN EDEN's 2000 Late Harvest Gewurztraminer is a full flavored wine exhibiting grapefruit, pear and apricot character, and the spicy floral aromas characteristic of the Gewurztrami ...morener grape. The 9% residual sugar is well balanced by acidity, so that the overall effect is refreshing, neither cloying nor tart. This wine has a pleasant, long finish. Our Late Harvest Gewurztraminer is superb served all by itself, or excellent with a wide variety of fruity desserts. I am particularly fond of this wine with pate at the commencement of the meal, or just with fruit at the meal's end.

Our dry style Gewurztraminer is allowed to hang on the vine about ten days longer than the off-dry Gewurz. It is produced in small lots and fermented with indigenous yeast. The win ...moree is 100% barrel fermented in small, neutral French oak until completely dry, increasing a richness in palate and depth of body.

Floral and perfume aromas of rose petal, kiwi and vanilla are pre-dominant in the nose. Intense flavors of apricot, nectarine, ripe peach, grapefruit and clove spice are layered with deep mineral and flinty components. The wine finishes smooth with a creamy and glycerin-like viscosity on the palate.
