Our 1997 GAN EDEN Limited Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine of surpassing elegance and style. 100% varietal, it was created entirely from fruit grown at Eaglepoint ranch. The vineyards are the highest and steepest in Mendocino County. This is true high-mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. It is highly extracted, and this makes for a long-lived style of wine which is not for everybody, tight and tannic. However, 1997, as a vintage, was noted for supple tannins, and it worked to favor accessibility in these grapes. The wine, though tannic, is drinkable now, even while indicating enhanced ageability. It is not as tight as it would have been in a normal year, allowing some fruit character to manifest itself even in a wine with so little time in bottle (barely a year and a half- very little from the standpoint of mountain Cab).

GAN EDEN's 2000 Syrah is a massive wine, flavorful and balanced, with a "kick on it like a mule". Because it doesn't really exhibit its alcohol in the typical manner of hotness or ... moresolvent-like quality, one might be tempted to drink more than optimal. There's just so much flavor, the wine is just so seductive, that one might not be able to control himself. You can't go wrong drinking this as an accompaniment to red meats and game. However, if you like smoking cigars, you might also find a glass of this with your favorite cigars to be a highly rewarding experience.

GAN EDEN's 2000 Late Harvest Gewurztraminer is a full flavored wine exhibiting grapefruit, pear and apricot character, and the spicy floral aromas characteristic of the Gewurztrami ... morener grape. The 9% residual sugar is well balanced by acidity, so that the overall effect is refreshing, neither cloying nor tart. This wine has a pleasant, long finish. Our Late Harvest Gewurztraminer is superb served all by itself, or excellent with a wide variety of fruity desserts. I am particularly fond of this wine with pate at the commencement of the meal, or just with fruit at the meal's end.

This is certainly one of our finest vintages to date, exhibiting and extra degree of richness which was lacking in someprevious vintages.

A highly versatile wine, this Semil ... morelon is as enjoyable with salmon as it is with halibut. It will complement a grilled chicken, or one with a complex sauce. Clearly, this wine deserves a place in any cellar.
