White Cottage Ranch Winery2240 visitors
White Cottage Ranch, formerly part of a 5000 acre "dude ranch" was purchased in 1989 by Dennis and Adele Johns. The decision to buy the sixty-three acres of premium Howell Mountain land came after conferring with many local grape growers, some of whom Dennis and Adele grew up with in St. Helena, Napa Valley. It was determined that the microclimate was exceptional for growing premium red varietals that would facilitate their plans to produce high quality red wines. In 1990, five different varieties of resistant rootstock were planted based on the various soil profiles. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc we budded in 1991. The first crop was in 1993. Subsequently, they have added Sangiovese and Zinfandel. | St. Helena, CA Phone: (707) 965-0516 Website: http://www.whitecottageranch.com Appellation: Howell Mountain Map to White Cottage Ranch Winery

2005 Adella Moscato
In keeping with our naming traditions, this wonderfully sweet desert Moscato is named for Adele. It is crisp and clean, not cloying, and has wonderful flavors of citrus and pear. W ... moree recently paired it with an apple tart at our Wine Club party and it was a huge hit!

Rosé

2005 Elena Rose
We are proud to present our very first dry rose, named after our daughter Elaine. A blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is the "first crush" off the grapes - free run ... morejuice that never saw the inside of a barrel. It is light, crisp and refreshing, especially on those hot summer nights!

Syrah
|
2005 Syrah
This is the first time that we have done a Syrah and we are excited by the results! We got some amazing fruit from Contra Costa County, one of the best regions to grow this particu ... morelar varietal, and the vineyard is owned by our winery building contractor, which keeps it all in the family. The wine is a beautiful garnet color with a nose of roasted blueberries, cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate, the flavor of plush fresh fruit is ripe, round and wonderfully balanced. All the way through to its velvety finish, this wine is a stunner and will pair beautifully with grilled and smoked food of all varieties.

2004 Risa
Meaning laughter in Spanish, our Risa has grown in distinction over the last several years. This wine is a blend of our mountain Cabernet Sauvignon with excellent fruit from the va ... morelley floor, and this vintage definitely reflects the best of both worlds. Great extraction has given this wine dark, ruby color, with the aromas of black and red fruit on the nose, leading into robust forward fruit on the palate with just a hint of the minerality for which Howell Mountain is so well known. A long and full finish rounds out this unique Cabernet blend and it is sure to bring a smile to your face!

2006 Chardonnay
The luscious fruit from Carneros makes this Chardonnay a beautiful golden color with rich, supple flavors of apple, crisp pear and honeydew melon. There is a subtle hint of toasted ... more oak, which makes the texture rich and creamy, balancing the fruit beautifully. The finish is bright and flavorful perfect for those warm summer evenings on the porch!

Sangiovese
|
2003 Sangiovese
Our Sangiovese is not like other California Sangioveses ours is a Super Tuscan with an attitude! We mean fruit. Produced from an Antinori Grosso clone, this is one big, beautiful w ... moreine. The combination of the quality characteristics from the rocky Howell Mountain soil it comes from and patience during ripening and you get a thoroughly spectacular wine. The color is deep purple. The mouth is silky and slightly exotic with mild pomegranate flavors. The finish literally makes your mouth water. It drinks well now, and should still shine in 8-10 years.

2003 Risa
Meaning laughter in Spanish, our Risa has grown in distinction over the last several years and we are thrilled with this new vintage! Driven by the blending of our mountain Caberne ... moret Sauvignon with excellent fruit from the valley floor, this Risa is one of our most robust to date. Nearly black in color, with great extraction, the aromas of black and red fruit on the nose blend into a delightful sensation on the palate of forward fruit with just a hint of the minerality for which Howell Mountain is so well known. The finish is long and full it makes us smile every time we take a sip!
