2005 Riverstone Chardonnay Central Coast California
The 2005 J. Lohr Estates Riverstone Chardonnay has an attractive, youthful, brassy yellow color. The fresh aromas of lime zest, nectarine, peach and apple combined with the perfum ... moreed vanilla and toasted oak bouquet from the barrel fermentation, malolactic fermentation and sur lie aging create an elegant Chardonnay from Monterey’s Arroyo Seco AVA. The flavors are very clean with peach, nectarine and citrus with subtle butter and vanilla toastiness, producing layers of complexity with an excellent balance of fresh fruit acidity and palate-weight. This wine is ideal for pairing with richly-textured fish and seafood or cream-sauced pasta dishes.
Rich, dark red with youthful purple hues. The 2002 ‘Carols’ was a treat to ferment, giving up some of the most luscious varietal aromas of currant and dark cherry. One of the most ... moreobvious traits to this wine is the beautiful dark purple colors that it gives up so easily during fermentation. The Petit Verdot adds dark tarry and licorice characters to the aroma and palate. The oak is chosen to highlight these primary fruit characters and complement the wine with vanilla and toasty secondary components. This wine is a treat to make and should be as equally pleasurable to drink in its youth and with 15-20 years of aging. This wine is ideally suited to red meats and pork, or tomato-based dishes.
The 2005 J. Lohr Estates Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most intensely-colored Estates Cabernets we’ve produced during my tenure. The wine color has a deep, bright, re ... mored-purple hue. An abundance of dark cherry and black currant fruit greets the nose, enhanced by spicy clove and toasty notes. On the palate, the fruit follows through with full weight and a lingering intensity and balance from the tannins. This wine is ready to be enjoyed now, or cellared for 5 years. Enjoy it with your favorite barbecued meats, tomato-based pastas like pasta all’amatriciana and chocolate decadence.
The 2003 J. Lohr Cuvée PAU has a saturated red-purple color with excellent hues. The nose is very reminiscent of its Bordeaux namesake, with coffee and forest floor notes combined ... morewith red currant and cherry fruit with hints of chocolate. The fruit is complemented with toasty and tarry French oak. The wine displays the full-bodied nature of Cabernet Sauvignon with rich currant fruit and mid to rear structure from both the fruit and the oak. On release, this wine will already have one year bottle age but will age well into the future. In its youth it should be enjoyed with a hearty steak, or as it ages, with beef tenderloin and rack of lamb. This wine should be allowed to breathe or decant prior to serving.
The 2006 J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is a youthful, brassy yellow color with very inviting fresh aromas of grapefruit, dried flowers and passion fruit with an herbal h ... moreint. On the palate, the wine has a bright acidity with clean flavors reminiscent of the aromas making the Carol’s Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc an excellent accompaniment to sautéed or grilled seafood or poultry. Serve at 45 to 50 degrees.
The 2006 J. Lohr Estates Bay Mist White Riesling is a very youthful, pale brassy yellow color with enticing fruit aromas of green apple, apricot, rose and wet stones. The 2.19% res ... moreidual sugar is balanced by the crisp grape acidity and natural spritz from a long cool fermentation, making the 2006 J. Lohr Bay Mist White Riesling a delightfully fruity, refreshing wine capable of complementing the vibrant flavors of Thai basil chicken with coconut, Indian curried chicken, or as an aperitif.
The 2005 J. Lohr Estates Los Osos Merlot has a dark red color with purple hues and good density. The aroma is dominated by fresh blueberry and boysenberry fruit and layered with li ... morefted spicy oak. The palate is greeted by an array of red fruits similar to those on the nose, with some cherry fruit thrown in for good measure. The wine has a full mid-palate and a firm finish that carries the wine through with a lingering hint of fruits and licorice spice. This wine would be ideal with barbeque meats and ribs dressed with your favorite sauce. Enjoy now or within ten years.
The 2005 J. Lohr Estates South Ridge Syrah has a characteristic strong and dense, dark red color with red-purple hues. Blackberry and plum fruit with hints of cherry and charred sp ... moreice dominate the aroma. A good weight of dark red fruits are balanced by a bit of vanilla oak and full to rich tannins in the mid to rear palate. This wine can be enjoyed now with hearty braised meats or a savory buffalo steak with an Ancho chile glaze. Drink now or cellar—for as long as you can wait!
