The 2005 J. Lohr Estates Los Osos Merlot has a dark red color with purple hues and good density. The aroma is dominated by fresh blueberry and boysenberry fruit and layered with lifted spicy oak. The palate is greeted by an array of red fruits similar to those on the nose, with some cherry fruit thrown in for good measure. The wine has a full mid-palate and a firm finish that carries the wine through with a lingering hint of fruits and licorice spice. This wine would be ideal with barbeque meats and ribs dressed with your favorite sauce. Enjoy now or within ten years.
