Tempranillo is a variety of Vitis vinifera, a red grape commonly used in winemaking. This grape is native to Spain where it is widely grown. The name is derived from the word temprano (meaning early in Spanish) due to the fact that the grape ripens several weeks earlier than most red varietals. Tempranillo is often referred to as Spainâ€™s noble grape and is the main variety in Rioja wines.

A subtle layering of vanilla and cinnamon in the bouquet is complimented by a rich and lingering finish.

Food Pairing: Will improve with proper cellar aging for seven years. You can drink it on its own, but it is also a wonderful accompaniment to a variety of dishes including paella, chicken quesadillas, grilled pork tenderloin or spaghetti and meatballs.

The Tempranillo grape has been an integral part of the Rioja win ...morees of Spain for many years. In Spain however, it is blended with several other varieties to produce the style they desire. The grape and many of its characteristics resemble Zinfandel. You should note a bit of allspice, plums and strawberries in the nose and a lingering finish of fresh fruit in the finish.
