Rosé
|
2006 Rosé Sonoma County
Fresh strawberries, raspberries and lychee explode from the glass. Urgent and brightly defined fruit slip over your palate. The wine is refreshing, clean and brilliantly fruity. Th ... moree finish brings along some of the familiar nilla-wafer notes (neutral oak aged) that we noticed in the 04 & 05…but we are glad to see it and thrilled how it rounds out the palate. The finish is clean, crisp and snappy enough to make your mouth water for another sip…and another sip...
Syrah
|
2006 Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard, Mendocino County
The 2006 seems to be a bit more generous on the palate than the previous two vintages from this vineyard. Once again this wine is not about power; its beauty is in its finesse and ... moredepth of concentration without coming across as overbearing. A cross between the luscious 2003 and sexy 2002, this wine is uncharacteristic of the 2006 growing season at this early point in time.
Syrah
|
2004 Syrah Richards Family Vineyard, Sonoma Valley
Planted on a hillside overlooking the Sonoma Valley to the east and Sonoma Mountain to the south, this 3.5 acre vineyard is covered in a series of Sonoma volcanic soils amongst out ... morecroppings of bedrock as large as Volkswagens. This former Lavender farm was replanted to Syrah in the late 90's. Remnants of the Lavender farm exist as a purple flowered perimeter to the vineyard and a ½ acre block alongside the Syrah. The lavender is harvested in mid to late summer and sold to Williams-Sonoma for fireplace starter bundles. The Syrah is farmed to our meticulous standards and is typically one of the last vineyards harvested of all of our sites. The wine is medium to full bodied, outrageously perfumed, silky and sexy. Not all about power, this wine reminds us of a gorgeous, classically vinified Cote Rotie. At this point barrels of this wine are divided between Cuvee's Christine, Keltie and Moriah. All three of these wines benefit from the outrageous perfume that this wine offers. Bottled on it's own it is true exotica! This wine was fermented 100% whole cluster and aged in a combination of new & used French Oak barrels for 36 months without even a single racking. Throw a rack of Lamb on
Roussanne
|
2004 Venus Roussanne
Two vineyards have been utilized to make this 100% Roussanne. A small portion of the blend is grown adjacent to the Viognier used in our Aphrodite bottling, the balance is grown in ... more the cobblestone laden soil of Bennett Valley. This is a step up in concentration and intensity over our 2003 bottling, with all of the trademark flavors and aromas that make Roussanne one of our favorite whites to drink. This wine shows a roasted element, which it picks up from the scorching heat that hit California late in the ripening cycle of these vines, a character that is more reminiscent of the Roussanne based whites from Chateauneuf-du-pape than those from the north.
Viognier
|
2004 Aphrodite Viognier
A stunning planting! The face of this hillside is so steep the gentlemen that farm it have nicknamed this planting 'Las Escaleras' which is Spanish for The Staircase. Fifteen year ... moreold vines cling to the fluffy white volcanic ash terraces, and produce a tiny crop of delicious Viognier grapes. We whole-cluster pressed the grapes directly into a mixture of new & old French oak barrels where this wild wine fermented naturally, filling the entire cellar with the aroma of fresh orange blossoms. Drink on release and over the next two years.
