2006 CRU Vigna Monte Nero Chardonnay
Santa Lucia Highlands

All of the grapes were gently crushed and barrel fermented; 30% of the barrels used were new, mostly French oak, with some American wood. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation ... more in the barrels, had extended lees contact with bi-monthly stirring. Golden hued with golden delicious and green apple aromas that are characteristic of this cool climate site. Focus lush fruit complemented and balanced by a toasty, nutty nuances from the dark toast French oak barrels. Apple, oak and butter flavors are fully integrated and harmonious on the palate, underscored by a rich, round, lingering finish.

2006 CRU Vigne Monte Nero Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands

Elegant and well-balanced this Pinot has rich, earthy flavors, layered with robust expressions of red & black fruit character in the nose and mouth. The luxurious mouth-feel can be ... more attributed to the soft tannins and to the barrel aging regime. We used a combination of 40% new oak (80% French, 20% Hungarian) for aging.

CRU "Two Vineyards" Chardonnay
Santa Lucia Highlands

Toasty oak and vanilla immediately greet you on the nose, with subtle dried papaya and spice notes in the background. The latter traits will become more apparent as this barrel-fer ... moremented wine gains additional bottle age. On the palate, a sweet, buttered pear grabs your taste buds and commands center stage. The wine then transitions into a soft, creamy finish that is both silky and harmonious. From Redding Ranch (50%) just south of Greenfield, and Vigna Monte Nero (50%) in the Santa Lucia Highlands west of Gonzales.

2006 Carmichael "Grigio e Bianco" White Table Wine
Monterey County

Light in color with a very floral bouquet, one's initial impression of our Grigio e Bianco might be that it is a simple, fruity wine. But with each new sniff and taste, it offers a ... morenother layer of complexity for those who take the time to look. Notes of lavender and lanolin come from the Pinot Grigio, with mango and sweet pea coming from the cool-site Sauvignon Blanc. Contrary to its fresh and delicate aromas, the 'GeB' has a depth and presence about it once tasted. There is a lightness up front, where herb and orange blossom tones transition to a pervasive lemon candy mid-palate, which then yields to a clean, lingering lemon peel finish. This harder, more structured edge is driven by the barrel-fermented Chardonnay component. Floral and exotic, while at the same time carrying good weight and balance, this unusual (and delicious) blend is a very versatile wine, well-suited to patio sipping or simple, lighter pasta, fish, and chicken dishes.

2005 Carmichael "Sur le Pont" Rhône-Styled Blend
Monterey County

Warm and inviting on the nose, initial impressions of our Sur le Pont are of spice and chocolate, with plum and black cherry fruit also prominent in the aroma. Once in the mouth, t ... morehe tactile impression broadens considerably with a warm, roasted chestnut quality across the mid-palate, which then translates seamlessly into a full finish, with plenty of soft, chalky tannins. Dark red and black fruit flavors predominate in this rich and flavorful blend. This wine goes well with grilled meats and robust tomato-based pastas. It is also wonderful with a big, juicy steak. This Sur le Pont will age nicely through 2010.

2006 Yosemite View Sauvignon Blanc
Sierra Foothills

Our Sauvignon Blanc is very exotic and very much in the 'California style.' Fresh and fruity, it exhibits typical grapefruit and herb characteristics at its core. But the overall i ... morempression is more like a fruit cocktail on steroids! The Pinot Gris gives this blend some high-toned tropical notes, as well as a distinct, Bartlett pear flavor. Bone dry but not overly tart it will pair beautifully with simply prepared seafood and chicken dishes, and especially those accompanied by a fruit chutney. DELICIOUS!

2005 Yosemite View Merlot
Sierra Foothills

When bottled, our Merlot was awkward and tough, with somewhat hard tannins. It has since lost that rustic character and is now full-flavored with intriguing high-tone berry and ced ... morear aromas. On the palate it shows classic earthy tones, with a touch of mint and herb. Still, the wine is not for the faint-of-heart, and is best enjoyed with a meal of hearty foods.
