Pinot Noir
|
2005 Pinot Noir "Las Brisas Vineyard" Carneros
Our vineyard’s name acknowledges the dependable and beneficial Pacific breezes that blow through it from the Petaluma Gap in the coastal range, cooling the vines and producing gr ... moreadual ripening of the grapes. This vineyard produces pure expressions of ripe, red cherry fruit and spicy notes, making wines with lovely textures and a harmonious integration of fruit with oak. While this wine shows well in its youth, it has enough structure to evolve for several years to come.

Pinot Noir
|
2005 Pinot Noir "Mahoney Ranch" Carneros
This wine is pure Carneros, grown in the vineyard across from the winery which has produced some of our favorite wines over the last 30 years. Rarely do individual lots of Pinot No ... moreir express intense fruit and deep structure at the same time, yet these did, showing lovely black cherry notes with a pervasive fusion of perfume, black pepper and allspice in the nose. The wine has ample tannins, well-integrated oak and a lush, supple texture.

Pinot Noir
|
2004 Pinot Noir "Haire Ranch" Carneros
Sourced from one of the pioneer vineyards in the Carneros region, this wine is a blend of Pinot Noir clones we do not grow in our vineyards at Mahoney. The enticing nose is full of ... more raspberries and blueberries with a hint of anise and the mouth feel is velvety, while the great tannin structure will allow the wine to age brilliantly.

Other Red
|
2005 Montepulciano Carneros
Francis planted this variety after his trip with Kathy to Italy in 2000. This red grape is not the Sangiovese clone (called Prugnolo Gentile) of Vino Nobile de Montepulciano in Tus ... morecany, rather it is the Montepulciano widely planted in the hills of central Italy along the Adriatic, most notably in the Abruzzo region. Grown in the cool Las Brisas Vineyard, it makes an intensely scented and flavored wine full of plums, blackberries and spice, with firm acidity and pleasant tannins.

Syrah
|
2005 Syrah Carneros
This Syrah comes from hillside vines on southwestern-facing slopes across from our winery. This area allows full ripening even in our cool climate. The exposure produces rich, supp ... morele wines with dark berry fruit while retaining the signature pepper notes found in classic Rhone wines. This midnight-black wine offers elaborate and inviting aromas of blackberry, black tea and lavender. The very rich and complex finish has a lush mouth feel that will continue to develop in bottle. Very limited production.

Tempranillo
|
2005 Tempranillo Carneros
This versatile and revered Spanish variety, the principal component of the great Riojas, has fared well at Las Brisas, providing us wine with brighter fruit and a more refreshing f ... moreinish than anticipated. Our Tempranillo shows excellent depth of both red and black fruits with abundant cherry and berry aromas and flavors, supple textures and good substance without hard tannins.

Albariño
|
2007 Albarino Carneros
It is possible you have never heard of this varietal, as it is still relatively unknown in California. If, however, you have travelled to the Northwest corner of Spain you likely s ... moreaw vineyards clinging to steep hillsides above coastal fishing villages. If you ordered a local white wine to wash down your seafood there, you almost certainly were served Albariño.
At Mahoney Vineyards, we strive to produce wines that both showcase our unique vineyards and remind us of their Old-World heritage. This is such a wine. Grown within sight of San Francisco Bay, we share the cool, coastal influences that allow flavor development and preserve acidity in Spanish Albariño, while our climate gives us a richness in the palate as well.

Chardonnay
|
2006 Chardonnay Carneros
Gavin Vineyard, named for Kathy’s family, comprises two blocks adjacent to the winery. These vines produce low yields of fruit with concentrated flavors. We harvested into small ... morebins and went directly to press with whole clusters to minimize handling. Gentle pressing, a short settling period and barrel fermentation with a wide array of yeasts helped create complexity while preserving fruit character. Extended aging sur lie added richness and helped integrate French oak notes with the fruit. This complex wine has forward citrus and Granny Smith apple notes layered with yeasty toast and sweet oak. | |
Vermentino
|
2007 Vermentino Carneros
In 2003, our Edge Club members, like you, were the first to be introduced to this new varietal from Mahoney Vineyards. At that time, we had to explain what, Vermentino is, as well ... more as why, Francis and Kathy would plant it at their Las Brisas Vineyard. We have received a fantastic response from you, as well as the press. Vermentino continues to be one of Francis’ and Ken’s favorites. This wine exhibits white peaches, citrus flavors with lovely floral notes. The refreshing and crisp finish is a perfect compliment to any spring or summer gathering. Enjoy with bread and cheese, your favorite shellfish, or just as an aperitif.
