Albariño or Alvarinho is a variety of white wine grape grown in northwest Spain and northern Portugal, where it is used to make varietal white wines.
The grape is noted for its distinctive aroma, very similar to that of Viognier and Gewurztraminer, suggesting apricot and peach. The wine produced is unusually light, and generally high in acidity with alcohol levels of 12-12.5%. Its thick skins and large number of pips can cause residual bitterness. | | More information on Albariño | | Food Pairing: Pairs well with finely nuanced seafood pastas, a delicate fish, or simply toss it back with a half dozen raw oysters. Excellent with fried chicken. |

2006 Albariño
Eaglepoint Ranch's first white wine and its a true winner! From winery partners Roland and Barbara Wentzel's organic vineyard in Anderson Valley comes this delicious wine. Our long ...moretime friend Greg Graziano tutored winemaker Casey Hartlip in the making of this wonderfully floral and vibrant wine. Barrel fermented in neutral barrels and bottled in February to capture the bright mineral texture that this Spanish origin grape is known for, it displays the crispness of a Sauvignon Blanc and the controlled richness of a Viognier. Pair with a shellfish appetizer or soft cheeses before dinner. |
