To know the history of Delectus Winery is to look back through a couple centuries of winemaking in Austria. Owner and winemaker Gerhard Reisacher has wine and viticulture in his blood - he's an eighth-generation winemaker who grew up in a small wine village south of Vienna. He first got his fingers dirty by working alongside his father in the vineyards as a boy, and subsequently attended Austria's premier winemaking college, graduating with four degrees, including winemaking and viticulture. | Napa, CA Phone: (707)255-1252 Website: http://www.delectuswinery.com Appellation: Napa Valley Tasting Room: Open Monday through Friday by appointment only. Whispered only to daughter J ... moreulia while deeply asleep, the secret blend melts away into her dreams. This is Cuvée Julia, the crown jewel in the Delectus portfolio of wines. Cuvée Julia is a blend of the best barrels of the vintage and is always the most dramatic bottling of the year.

2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sacrashe Vineyard Rutherford
Typically the most glorious Cabernet lot in our cellar, the 2003 Sacrashe once again meets those expectations. The high and low spots of this rolling hilltop vineyard showed slight ... morely different levels of ripeness during harvest and were picked a week apart. The wine is expressive with intense complexity, enticing character, and a gorgeous mouth feel. Only 220 cases produced.
Where do you ever start with the Sacrashe Cab?! Spice rack, boysenberry, deep mineral flavors, crushed rock, blueberry, smoked ham hocks and clove aromas come to mind. The palate is seamless, elegant, a big chewy mouthful, with deep, rich flavors and a beautiful structure.

2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville
Though we no longer vineyard designate our Oakville source, this vineyard lies just south of the Oakville Crossroad next to Highway 29, with just enough pebbles in the soil to turn ... more the site favorable for Cabernet Sauvignon. 2002 is our second version from this vineyard, with impressive results. While its predecessor, the 2001 Stanton Cab, was classically firm with layers of fruit, this vintage is more concentrated at the core, darker flavors, and saturated tannins. A stunning wine that will turn heads!
Aromas of cherry liqueur, crème-de-cassis, well-integrated oak, some vanilla bean, cocoa. Well-structured mouth feel, a trace of dust, loaded with dark fruit, rich chocolate, and a very long finish.
