The truth is that Tricycle Wine Co. is just a group of guys and a few great supportive gals who make some honest and true single-vineyard wine. We have no real office but instead we meet regularly for breakfast at the Boonfly Café in Carneros (happy to meet you there sometime). We have no tasting room, and we make wine in someone else’s state-of-the-art winery (see the part about where we put our resources, below). | Oakland, CA Phone: (707) 255-4929 Website: http://www.tricyclewineco.com Appellation: San Francisco Bay Map to Obsidian Ridge

Cabernet Sauvignon

2005 Obsidian Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon
Rapid ripening in mid-summer slowed considerably by September with mild weather prevailing through harvest. Picking began on October 7th - the grapes were very small and the crop l ... moreevel low, focusing intensity in the resulting wine. The clusters were loosely set, with fewer-than-average berries, and many contained only one seed rather than the typical two to four seeds. The modest set meant the grapes enjoyed good exposure to the dry mountain air and strong sunlight at altitude, with fruit ripening quickly in perfect autumn weather. Sugars averaged 27 Brix at harvest while the acidity held at 3.40 pH with 6.8g/L tartaric acid.

2005 Obsidian Ridge Syrah
We bottled the wine in June 2007 after 18 months in barrel with the true Syrah character of baked blueberries readily apparent. Wonderful smells of buttery pie crust and more comp ... morelex counterpoints of dried sage and autumn leaves emerge with time. And the tannins, well the tannins are right and good — they are broad across the palate giving weight that is in balance with the density of the wine.
