A small family owned and operated winery in the North Yuba section of the Sierra Foothills AVA. Organic/biodynamic viticulture of own-rooted old vines, planted at 1600-2400 ft on steep, rocky slopes. Specializing in the production of Pinot Noir, Syrah, and a few "non-traditional" "terroir-driven" blends. The wine making is extremely "hands off": no inoculations, acid corrections, rackings, fining, filtration (other than the white/rose). All wines are aged on their primary lees until the day of bottling. The resulting wines are distinctive, concentrated, structured, food-friendly (moderate alcohol, lively acidity), and age-worthy. The reds are bottled with no sulfites. | Oregon House, CA Phone: (530) 692-1080 Website: http://www.clossaron.com Appellation: Sierra Foothills Tasting Room: Open by appointment |

2006 "Home Vineyard" Pinot Noir Sierra Foothills
This vintage of our flagship Pinot is especially exciting for us. The wine shows great balance and elegance, with a good deal of ripeness and outstanding minerality. As usual, it h ... moreas complex, spicy flavors, which are certainly more "terroir-driven" than "fruit-driven". Organic/biodynamic viticulture, no acid corrections, no inoculations, unfined, unfiltered, no sulfites in the bottle.

2007 Carte Blanche Sierra Foothills
Light straw yellow. Intensely aromatic, expressing mainly flowers, herbs, and spices, with berries and some oak in the background. Medium-full bodied, lean, pure, and intensely fla ... morevorful. Again, flowers/herbs/minerals, with ample ripeness and fruit giving it a perfect balance. Unusually intense and persistent, truly elegant. This wine should evolve over many years (15+) and will keep changing in the process… One thing to note is that between every two "in focus" points of its evolution, this type of wine may well go "out of focus" and taste a little ackward, weird, tired, sometimes even appear oxydized before showing well again. Something like a snake shedding its skin…

2003 Holy Moly! Sierra Foothills
Medium garnet color. Intense, complex nose of black pepper, Sierra brush (that's our version of "Garrigue"!), mountain flowers, ground meat, cocoa, spicy herbs and smoke. On the pa ... morelate it is intensely ripe and fruity upfront, with strong spicy and gamey notes following, finishing on chocolatey tannins and minerals. The texture is rich and fine-grained. Very young and a little rough at the edges or disjointed at this stage, should improve vastly with a couple of years in the cellar.
