Our Rosato blend is comprised of Syrah fruit sourced from vineyards in the Oak Knoll and Coombsville areas of Napa Valley. The components of this Syrah Rosé were fermented in 40% ... morestainless steel and 60% neutral French oak barrels. Primary fermentation was allowed to complete to dryness, while secondary fermentation was suppressed to preserve the crisp acidity and vibrant fruit. This 2006 Rosato was bottled after only 5 months of barrel aging in order to capture the essence of the Syrah fruit profile of ripe raspberry, floral perfume, exotic spices, and black cherry, while ensuring proper timing for spring parties and summer BBQ’s.

Vintage 2005 provided some early hurdles but with attention to detail in the vineyards and with patience to hold harvest until the late season warmth, the vintage actually provided ... more the platform for spectacular wines. A cool, late and somewhat wet spring slowed the start of the growing season and the even and relatively moderate summer conditions pointed to a late harvest. Serious crop thinning and canopy management of the excess vigor was therefore imperative to obtain the desired concentration and ripeness levels. These timely actions early on coupled with excellent late season warmth allowed the slow and steady ripening that we love, creating optimum concentration of pigment, tannin, flavor, and Syrah varietal expression.
