2005 Estate Aglianico Belmonte Estate, Sonoma Valley
Our inaugural release of Aglianico! This grape is believed to have originated in Greece and brought to Italy by the Phoenicians. Today it is grown in the Campania and Basilicata regions. There are less than 20 acres of Aglianico planted in the United States. Aglianico generally displays a deep garnet color and rich satiny texture with earthy aromas such as coffee and leather. Like Sangiovese and Barbera, Aglianico is an acid driven wine which allows for some aging and pairs well with hearty dishes or rich sauces. |
