2005 Merlot Dry Creek Valley, Polesky Vineyard
The Polesky Vineyard sits near the peak of Bradford Mountain, which lies on the western edge of Dry Creek Valley. Predominantly red volcanic soil called "Boomer Soil", the Polesky site is ideal for growing intense fruit-driven Merlot. With initial emphasis on black cherry, currant and plum, the nose unfolds with hints of soy, pencil shavings, and sweet herbs. The palate is rich and full-bodied with enough tannin to warrant a few years aging. Best to pair this lovely wine with an aged ribeye grilled just right. |
