1983 Cabernet Sauvignon Founders Reserve
Our first Reserve level Cabernet made by our founding wine maker Karl Werner. An old fashioned, (and somewhat eccentric) style of winemaking. Intense and uncompromising, not a soft rich experience – this is a specimen of an extinct species! Very dark color, showing little evolution. Powerful bouquet of great complexity and depth (berries, musk, tar, earth, spices, tobacco). Lean, compact, tight, and austere in the mouth, with high acid, red-berry fruit and (very) powerful dry tannins. Very high extract, intense flavors, very long, dry finish. Decanting for several hours prior to serving is highly recommended. Serve with roasted meats and powerful sauces, mature cheeses or any fine steak.
