Welcome to Carlisle Winery & Vineyards! We are a small Sonoma County winery specializing in the production of old-vine, vineyard designated zinfandels and red Rhone varieties (syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, and petite sirah). While we like our wines to be bold, rich, and intensely flavored, each reflecting a sense of place, its origins in the vineyard, we also strive to create wines of balance, complexity, and perhaps most importantly, pleasure.

2006 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel
Dry Creek Valley

Medium-dark to dark ruby. Delicious scents of red and black cherries are mixed with hints of iron, earth, and freshly roasted coffee beans. While full-bodied on entry, the petite s ... moreirah component quickly flexes its muscle, with sweet tannins appearing in the mid-palate through the lusty finish. Unquestionably our best Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel since the 2002. Optimum drinking should be between late 2008 through 2013. (MRO – 3/1/08)

2006 "Gold Mine Ranch" Zinfandel
Dry Creek Valley

Medium-dark ruby. Maraschino cherries, red licorice whips, and just a hint of buttery-goodness greet the nose. Mmmmmm! On the palate, quite full-bodied but with ample tannins and a ... morecidity, not at all flabby or oafish. This should age quite well. Begin drinking in mid-2009 and enjoy through 2015. (MRO – 3/1/08)

2006 Syrah
Russian River Valley

Dark ruby-garnet. Gorgeous aromas of blackberry, crème de cassis, and spring flowers meet the nose. On the palate, flavors of blackberry and herbs. Full-bodied but with refreshing ... more tannins on the finish. While enjoyable now, additional complexity should develop with bottle age. Drink 2009-2016. (MRO – 3/1/08)

2006 "Papa's Block" Syrah
Russian River Valley

Dark ruby-garnet. Heady aromas of blackberry and crème de cassis emerge from the glass but this time, mixed with a suggestion of talc and earth. Full-bodied and opulent. The ample ... more tannins are nearly obscured by the abundant fruit. This wine should provide optimum pleasure between 2008 and 2015. (MRO – 3/1/08)

2006 "Rosella's Vineyard" Syrah
Santa Lucia Highlands

Dark ruby-garnet. Fascinating aromas of buttered popcorn and ruby red grapefruit (the signature of Rosella’s syrah) soar from the glass. On the palate, full bodied with a burst o ... moref grapefruit on the long finish. Of the three syrahs released this spring, this is the most forward and approachable. Enjoy 2008 through 2013. 2006 "Bacchi Ranch" Zinfandel
Russian River Valley

Medium-dark to dark ruby. Wow! Head-turning aromas of black cherry and blackberry are mixed with notes of red licorice and allsorts. What a sniff! Full bodied but impeccably balanc ... moreed. This is a real step up from the excellent 2005. Drinking well now, we see little reason to wait. Enjoy 2008-2011. (MRO – 3/1/08)

2006 "Montafi Ranch" Zinfandel
Russian River Valley

Dark ruby-garnet. Classic Montafi aromas of red and black berries intertwined with notes of bay leaf and eucalyptus. On the palate, full-bodied and well-balanced with flavors echoi ... moreng the aromas. Very long on the finish. Less like the 2005 and more like the 2004. Man this is good! Drink 2008-2012. (MRO – 3/1/08)

2006 "Pietro's Ranch" Zinfandel
Russian River Valley

Dark ruby-purple. Nearly opaque. An absolutely intoxicating nose of black raspberry, briar, and herbs. Fabulous! The wine enters full and rich but acidity and tannins are in perfec ... moret balance. As seamless a zinfandel as we have ever produced. Enjoy this bit of history from release through 2013. (MRO – 3/1/08)

The 2006 Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown in the famous Shenandoah Valley of Amador County. It was cold fermented in stainless steel tanks. The result is a crisp fruity wine with flavors of citrus, gooseberry and a flinty, mineral finish.
