Burrell School Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon |
2005 Old School Cabernet Sauvignon Santa Cruz Mountains
This baby Bordeaux blend just keeps getting better and better. This wine is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon from Martin Ranch, premium stuff that Dave normally reserves for the Deans list Cab. The remainder of the Cab in this blend comes from the Dellamaggiore vineyard, known for it's plummy, ripe fruit. The Cabernet Franc and Merlot are from the estate Pichon Vineyard, making this one the classiest "Old School" yet. The aromas of briar and peppercorns are bold and inviting, and the flavors are big charry, smoky cedar and a bit of menthol. Aged in American oak, the wine definately shows off the piney and smokey touches of this fragrant wood. The finish is fabulous. Best 2007 through 2010; Only 600 cases made |
