Altamura Winery & Vineyards Nebbiolo |
2002 Nebbiolo Napa Valley
Nebbiolo may not be known to many wine drinkers outside of Italy, however the resulting Barolo wine is one of the worlds great wines produced from a single varietal. Barolo, being one of Frank's favorite wines, was the reason for growing and producing a very limited amount of Nebbiolo. This estate vineyard of one and one-half acres sits at an altitude of 1000 feet and produces only about two tons of fruit. After fermentation the wine ages very slowly in French oak for a period of four and one-half years. The finished wine is one of great depth, texture and earthiness. Altamura Nebbiolo is the perfect accompaniment to roasted or braised meats, wild game and truffles. This very limited production wine is available only through our online store and from the winery. |
