2004 Cliff Lede Petite Sirah
North Coast

A most surprising Petite Sirah, this 2004 offering from Cliff Lede Vineyards displays multiple layers of ever-evolving aromas and flavors. Upon initial opening, one is presented with dense aromas of pie cherry, kirsch, gardenia, cedar and mulberry. Given a little time to display itself, the aromatics evolve into syrah-like elements of violets, underbrush, and fresh blueberries, which finally progress into allspice and cola. The mouth opens with just a hint of lavender, quickly leading to a delicate and balanced palate of lush red fruits, elderberry jam, dark cherries and finishes with a lingering sensuous richness. This Petite Sirah was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
