Petite Sirah

2004 Petite Sirah
Santa Barbara County

Another blockbuster from the vineyard Robert Parker has deemed “grand cru” of California. “Dark” is the word for this wine; as in dark purple/black color – try opaque – and dark fruits such as blackberries and plums. This wine delivers what most Petite Sirah drinkers are looking for: rich, full texture, massive structure and big tannins.

What may be a little surprising, however, is the level of depth and complexity retained within all this power in the form of spice, cinnamon & chocolate notes.

Extended aging in older Francois Freres French oak barrels has served to round out any rough edges texturally and some spicy vanilla nuances.
