The 2004 Freestone View Block Pinot Noir displayed its exceptional quality early on with great depth and high extract. As with all wines of great potential, long aging is rewarded with greater complexity and character. We have chosen to bottle age this a full year prior to release. Upon opening, aromas of dark ripe cherries and blackberries fill the glass. With aeration, provocative lavender and dried rose petals add pleasing depth to the nose. The palate has a richness of flavor and supple mouthfeel highlighted by high natural acidity. We expect this wine to continue its evolution in bottle for 10 years or more. Balistreri Vineyard offers a unique sense of place in delicate balance with its extreme environment, giving us the opportunity to produce a Pinot Noir of truly rare potential.
