De Loach Vineyards Pinot Noir |
2005 Sonoma Stage Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
Sonoma Stage vineyard planted in 1999 by the Hyde family located in the southern most portion of the Sonoma Coast Appellation, at the apex of Stage Gulch Road between Petaluma and Carneros. This is a cool, windswept site with significant marine influences keeping yields low and intense.
Hand harvesting yields about 2 Tons per Acre. The 2005 Sonoma Stage Pinot Noir was co-fermented with 50% Calera and 50% Swan Clones, of which 20% was whole cluster. To maintain the fresh fruit character of this dark beauty, native fermentation and minimal cap manipulation preserved the finesse of this cool climate Pinot. The wine was aged in 100%, French oak 50% new French oak for 12 months.
This big brooding Pinot Noir is the most Burgundian-styled of DeLoach wines. Lush, dark pomegranate in color, it boasts a nose of leather and spice complemented by bright strawberry notes. On the palate, rich grilled flavors emerge with a core of currant, raspberry, and layers of cocoa bean. Stelvin Lux+ closure, available on request. |
