Job Description:
Reports to: General Partner, Long Meadow Ranch. Will be member of four-person operating team.

Company Summary:
Long Meadow Ranch is a diversified 650-acre organic farming operation in the western hills of the Napa Valley above Rutherford, producing wine, olive oil, beef, and fruits & vegetables.

Job Summary:
This position is for a full-time manager to serve as administrative manager overseeing financial, tax, and human resources functions and as business operations manager overseeing all aspects of packaging and delivery of Long Meadow Ranch products, including wine, beef, and olive oil. This a hands-on position in a small, but complex, business. Under general direction, this person will be responsible for the accounting and finance component for Long Meadow Ranch and subsidiaries. Will oversee all administrative for five businesses. Overall, general human resource functions for approximately 25 employees. Supervisory responsibilities will be for one staff accountant. Will directly supervise customer service and sales support from an accounting and administrative perspective. Oversees post production operations for wine, olive oil & beef.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties maybe assigned.
Financial
Manage relationship with outside accounting firm
Manage staff accountant
Cash management
Analysis and Reporting
Multi-year planning
Develop management reports as needed
Human Resources
Maintain legal compliance
Direct report staff performance & compensation reviews
Manage new hire process (ad placement, screening, scheduling, hiring, orientation, etc.)
Manage elective employee benefits (Sec 125, 401k, medical, dental, PTO)
Review plan renewals – evaluate options
Employee manual
Insurance
Annual coverage review – casualty, auto, liability, crop, excess, health
Manage claims
Update coverage throughout year as required
Tax returns
Review of excise, sales and use, payroll, and property tax returns
Direct ship states returns - review
Annual corporate functions, including corporate minutes
General Administrative
Office equipment and supplies
Software library
Cell site negotiations
Manage relationship with I/T consultant

BUSINESS OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:
Wine/ Olive Oil Packaging & Delivery
Harvest summary and analysis
Assist in new product development (50ml, 1-gallon tin, rose, Grappa, etc.)
Evaluate packaging options
Manage packaging changes
Manage repacks – labor, QC, product transfers
Order/modify:
• Labels (wine/beef/oil)
• CapsulesClosures
• Custom boxes – beef/wine/oil
• Misc (tissue, etc.)Glass
• Oil stickers
Warehousing and shipping
Beef Packaging & Delivery
Oversee and document slaughter activities
Coordinate specs, shipping, labels etc. with slaughter house
Labels & Boxes
Label compliance
Raw product logistics for added value items
Order value added products - hot dogs, patties, jerky
Quality Control
New product recommendations
Sales and alternate use analysis
Warehousing
Specialty Products Packaging & Delivery
Evaluate packaging options for all specialty products (e.g., honey, vinegar, etc.)
Oversee procurement and production
Wine/Oil/Beef Inventory Management
Conduct physicals inventory counts
Review monthly reconciliation to physical
Authorize adjustments
Recommend transfers as appropriate
Manage warehouse relationships
Compliance
Local: Vine Report
State: Growers report
Federal: TTB label approvals
Bond and license amendments and renewals
Review and sign 702
California Olive Oil Council
California Certified Organic Farmers
Out of state shipper licenses
Wholesale monthly shipment reports, licenses, product registration

Qualifications:
Professional Requirements:
• College degree required; College or other specialty training in accounting, ag economics, and/or animal husbandry strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial and management reporting systems with proven experience in doing analysis
• A minimum of 5 years experience in the wine industry
• Proven track record as a business manager in a multi-product environment
• General knowledge of farming, including vineyards, olives, fruits & vegetables, and animal husbandry
• Previous livestock experience (4-H, FFA, or commercial beef operation) a plus
• Working Spanish vocabulary
• Self-motivated and self- managing
• Effective communication skills (oral and written)
• Capable of maintaining computer-based records, evaluating office computer systems, and managing software standards
• High standards of ethics and integrity
• Able to lift 30+ lbs
