The Market Manager will effectively manage and lead Diageo Chateau & Estates’ sales execution and maximize field-marketing opportunities within the Southern California General Market.

Market Overview:
DC&E volume in the Southern California General Market is approximately 200,000 cases. The past fiscal year was a solid year in the Southern California market, with depletions up 3%. California is an open market, and our business is consolidated statewide with Pacific Wine & Spirits, a dedicated Diageo & MHUSA division of Southern Wine & Spirits. Pacific Wine & Spirits has recently won the Diageo Golden Bar Award for “Distributor of the Year – Wine”, by showing consistent execution and successful ways of working and collaboration in the California market.

There is a significant amount of geography to cover in the vast Southern California population. The preferred location for this role is in Orange County, which is in the heart of the Southern California geography. Travel throughout Southern California is required, and to Northern California for statewide meetings on occasion.

Management Responsibility:
· Responsibility for full management of market and distributor performance

Decision Making:
· With support of CA VP of Sales, Distributor Management and Finance, make all day-to-day decisions relative to marketing and sales programs.
· With support of CA VP of Sales, Distributor Management and Finance reforecast goals by product at mid-year in order to address current trends and still deliver the full year goal.

Key Outputs/Deliverables:
·Develop a well-grounded Annual Commercial Plan for Southern California that reflects the agreed brand and customer strategies and supports the delivery of the overall business goals. Adjust or course correct plan as necessary during the year.
· Manage distributor to deliver business targets – overall NSV and scorecard initiatives.
· Execute marketing and national account activities locally with excellence. Additionally initiate and execute market-based recommendations and opportunities to over deliver volume and profit targets.

Qualifications:
Experience:
· Wine industry and product knowledge needed
· College graduate required, preferably with post grad qualifications
· 5 -10 years sales management experience with a major CPG company and/or 3-tier Distribution experience
· Successful track record in delivering volume and profit goals
· Demonstrated strong leadership skills
· Exposure and experience working with cross-functional teams
· Strong distributor and customer contacts and/or experience
· Good verbal and written communication skills
