Crushpad’s fusebox brings wine blending out of the winery and into the home
November 28, 2007

San Francisco, CA - San Francisco, CA—November 28, 2007—Crushpad, the urban winery that is democratizing wine making, today announced the launch of fusebox, the wine blending kit that brings a professional-level wine making experience to the home. fusebox combines entertainment, education and great wine in a 15-pound box containing everything necessary for a group of four to have fun while discovering how some of the world’s greatest wines are blended.

Wine blending is considered the highest art form and personal expression in winemaking, where good wine is turned into great wine. With fusebox, wine enthusiasts can try to re-create some of the great Cabernet blends from history and try their hand at blending and comparing their own creations. With bragging rights on the line, participants can even sample a Mystery Wine, then compete to decode its individual blending components with the “Guess the Mystery Blend” online game at fuseboxwine.com.

The fusebox wine blending kit retails for $120 and includes:

* Six 375 mL bottles of blending wine, made from some of Napa's finest vineyards.
Varietals include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc
* One 375 mL bottle of Mystery Wine
* One graduated cylinder and 4 pipettes
* Four wine evaluation cards
* Four tasting place mats
* Recipe cards
* Vinography aroma card
* Corkscrew

Since 2005, Crushpad has conducted hundreds of blending sessions with clients who are creating their own custom wines at its San Francisco winery. Wine enthusiasts can now explore this part of wine making from the comfort of their dining room wherever they live, at a fraction of the cost of creating their own barrel.

“Crushpad’s mission is to turn consumers into creators,” said Crushpad CEO, Michael Brill. “Whether it’s the multi-year experience of making a wine from vine to bottle or just spending a few hours with friends enjoying a blending session with fusebox, we want to give individuals the opportunity to experience the fun and sense of creative expression that comes from making wine.”
