We vinify them separately and decide on the blend a ...morefter at least one year in the barrel. In 2004, the intensity of this Zin and its purity of fruit made us decide not to blend it with any other varieties.

Boysenberries and sweet oak vanilla dominate the nose of this classic Zinfandel, along with just a hint of spice. Ripe raspberry flavors fill the mouth upon entry. The youthful nature of this wine is evident in its body and tannin. A varietal brambly quality comes out with some air. The barrel influence is considerable, with pastry and toast in the mid- palate and finish.

Our 2005 Zinf ...moreandel is a lovely example of the power, richness and elegance we enjoy at higher elevations. A blend of herbert Zinfandel from Fairply and our own estate fruit, the wine shows ripe raspberry, spice and mulberry fruit, with toasty oak nuances. The palate is broad and balanced, with ripe red fruit and good acid balance. The wine is delicious now with roast duck, flautas al pastor or Brie cheese, or will soften and develop with 2-4 years of bottle age.

The 2003 Zinfandel is from the 25 year old vines of Herbert Vineyard, located in the Fairplay Appellation. The vines are head trained and drip irrigated. Harvest was undertaken aft ...moreer extensive thinning. Any clusters with pink berries were dropped, along with multiple passes to remove any raisins.

The color of the wine is bright ruby and gives aromas of boysenberry and brambly. Some vanilla and alluring freshly baked pastry aromas as well. This shows distinct Sierra Foothill Zinfandel varietal quality â€“ fruit with some spice, both balanced and intense. Cardamom flavors are pronounced, red fruit â€“ cherries and black raspberry. Nice textural quality from the barrel aging. Some smoky and toast complexity to go with the fruit.

We are extremely pleased to announce the release of our â€œOld Vine Zinfandelâ€. The vines for this luscious wine were planted in 1944 to the east of Lodi. Being during the war ye ...morears, these vineyards were all planted by ladies working long hours in the vineyards. Fermented in small lots, the new wine was racked to two single fill Limousin barrels. These are the barrels used for our 03 Reserve Cab. The roundness of the wood adds to the ripe silky texture of the wine. Raspberry, blueberry and chocolate abound from the glass. Full bodied and luxurious through to the finish this is a great wine to enjoy at any time you please. I expect this wine to age gracefully for 3 to 5 years.
