Pinot Noir

15887 visitors
Pinot noir is a red wine grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera. The name may also refer to wines produced predominantly from pinot noir grapes. The name is derived from the french words for pine and black alluding to the varietals tightly clustered dark purple pine cone shaped bunches of fruit.

Pinot noir grapes are grown around the world, but the grape is chiefly associated with the Burgundy region of France. In De re rustica, Columella described a grape variety in Burgundy in the 1st century A.D. that sounds like Pinot noir. It is widely considered to produce some of the finest wines in the world, but is a difficult variety to cultivate and transform into wine.

2006 Masut Vineyard Pinot Noir
Redwood Valley

Nestled in the Redwood Valley, the hillside of Masút Vineyard teems with life: grazing sheep, buzzing bees, and roaming chickens add to the land’s natural vibrancy. Planted in ...more1996 according to biodynamic practices, this vineyard is tended to by renowned pioneers of biodynamic farming – Jacob Fetzer and his family. The result of our shared commitment is grapes of the highest quality and varietal expression.

A Pinot Noir of surprising depth and complexity, it begins with opening notes of ripe strawberries intermingled with hints of flint and bee pollen, with a powerful base note of a black cherry reduction. The subtle entry on to the palate builds with intensity as flavors of strawberry-rhubarb pavlova are lifted and framed by the fine-grained tannins and subtle charm of cocoa and toasted caramel. Try it as an elegant aperitif paired with hors d'oeuvres, or with Bacon-Wrapped Pork Tenderloin with Apple-Cranberry Chutney.

2006 Green Valley Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley

Located in the western hills of the Russian River Valley, Green Valley is one of Sonoma County’s coolest regions. Blankets of fog pushed over from the Pacific Ocean chill the oth ...moreerwise hot summer evening air and ensure temperate mornings. The valley’s optimal weather conditions extend the growing season and produce concentrated berries while soils rich in minerals from an ancient seabed infuse the fruit with nuanced flavors.

The 2006 Green Valley is a blend from several vineyards in the Green Valley appellation. The vineyards represent different clones, each of which contributes something unique to the finished wine. Each vineyard site has been carefully selected to display the bright, crystalline fruit, which is characteristic of classic Green Valley Pinot Noir.

This quintessential Green Valley Pinot Noir boasts dark ruby red hues that open to a bright fruit nose with earthy aromas and a smattering of spice. Followed on the palate by flavors of pomegranate, cherries, raspberry, leather, and crushed rose petals that burst in the mouth and continuously evolve as the wine breathes. A well-structured wine, it is ready to drink now and will age beautifully for up to 10 years.

2005 Sonoma Stage Pinot Noir
Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Stage vineyard planted in 1999 by the Hyde family located in the southern most portion of the Sonoma Coast Appellation, at the apex of Stage Gulch Road between Petaluma and ...moreCarneros. This is a cool, windswept site with significant marine influences keeping yields low and intense.

Hand harvesting yields about 2 Tons per Acre. The 2005 Sonoma Stage Pinot Noir was co-fermented with 50% Calera and 50% Swan Clones, of which 20% was whole cluster. To maintain the fresh fruit character of this dark beauty, native fermentation and minimal cap manipulation preserved the finesse of this cool climate Pinot. The wine was aged in 100%, French oak 50% new French oak for 12 months.

This big brooding Pinot Noir is the most Burgundian-styled of DeLoach wines. Lush, dark pomegranate in color, it boasts a nose of leather and spice complemented by bright strawberry notes. On the palate, rich grilled flavors emerge with a core of currant, raspberry, and layers of cocoa bean. Stelvin Lux+ closure, available on request.

2004 Pinot Noir

Sideways aside, Pinot has always been a favorite varietal of both seasoned wine lovers and novices. Lush fruit, French oak and a body to die for –that can age nicely for ten year ...mores. Great with grilled salmon and easily stands up to powerful sauces. This is a blend of 5 vineyard sites and only 350 cases were produced.

Made in the Burgundian style, our new release Pinot Noir has light cherry fruit with a soft and elegant finish. A perfect wine for pairing with salmon or to have at a turkey dinner with all the fixin's.

2005 Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley

Youthful and vibrant, with a classic pinot noir nose of bright cherry and a touch of earthiness. Look for flavors of rhubarb, smoke, and caramel to add complexity. Polished tannin ...mores and good acidity create a nice balance and structure. This pinot is very food friendly. We find it is particularly appealing with pork, tuna, and mushrooms. Drinkable now. Best from 2007 through 2012.
