2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
Calaveras County

Of all the Foothill counties, Calaveras is considered by many to be particularly well suited to Bordeaux varieties. Our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is further proof. The very warm days ...more and mild nights, along with the rocky, well-drained soils along Pennsylvania Gulch Road suit this most venerable of French varieties just fine. Concentrated and focused, with sweet, ripe tannins, this wine delivers complex, rich fruit, with none of the veggie character often found in the coastal valley cabs. It is round and velvety, and ready to enjoy today with hearty dishes like barbecued ribs, a juicy rib-eye or steak fajitas.

2006 Rock White
Calaveras County

Our flagship white wine, and first ever White Rock, this blend of Chardonnay and Viognier is a classy and delicious example of the European winemaking tradition. We used a high per ...morecentage of new French oak barrels, allowed the wine to ferment with the natural yeast present on the grapes when they were crushed, and aged the wine on the yeast sediment for 10 months after fermentation to enhance complexity. The result is a smooth, voluptuous, layered wine, with baked apple and lemon drop aromas, and lots of toasty oak. Compare this wine with the best of California’s Chardonnays.

2005 Merlot
Calaveras County

Once an American favorite, Merlot has lost some of its appeal in recent years due to over cropping and slipshod winemaking. However, it's past popularity and continued use througho ...moreut the world attests to its potential to make outstanding, well balanced wine. In our vineyard we have planted Merlot on the rockiest, best drained section of the property, where the vines work hard to produce small berries with thick skins and very low yields. Our 2005 Merlot is a rich, potent wine, loaded with ripe cherry and black olive aromas and extremely broad and velvety on the palate. It's a great companion to casual fare, including pizza, lamb stew, hamburgers and chops

2006 Dutton Goldfield Dutton Ranch Chardonnay
Russian River Valley

THE VINEYARD
Dutton Ranch farms over sixty unique, separate vineyards located in the coolest areas of the Russian River Valley, primarily in the Green Valley appellation. Da ...moren and Steve select their favorite Dutton Ranch vineyards to craft a wine reflecting our vision of classic Russian River Valley Chardonnay. The vineyards we choose are based on our desire to offer wines with fruit intensity, great acid structure and richness, even after full barrel and malolactic fermentation. Mill Station, Rued, Schwartz and Walker Hill are all old vine (greater than 30 years), old clone vineyards located in the cold heart of Green Valley. They provide the beautiful citrus backbone, spicy floral nose, and tropical and mineral overtones of this offering. Morelli Lane Vineyard, planted to the Hyde clone of Chardonnay, is located high on top of Stoetz Ridge on the west side of the valley, and contributes notes of stone fruit and pear to the wine.

WINEMAKING
The individual lots are barrel fermented using a combination of indigenous and inoculated yeast strains. They undergo malolactic fermentation, and the lees are stirred twice monthly. The blend is assembled, with the primary lees, in early

2006 Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley

The long, cool 2006 growing season enabled extended hang time in our great array of pinot vineyards, developing the ebullient fruit and rich structure that Russian River is so priz ...moreed for. Its aromatic lushness immediately distinguishes our ‘06 Dutton Ranch Pinot offering, with succulent black cherry, blackberry and cranberry aromas fairly leaping out of the glass. With time, the undertones of Asian spice and a slight smokiness creep in for support. In the mouth, the wine follows with the expected vibrant cherry and cranberry fruit, but really fills out with darker blackberry and coffee undertones. True to the Dutton-Goldfield style, the wine’s fresh acidity and moderate alcohol facilitate the clean berry finish. At this stage of its life this is a beautiful wine to pair with fresh cheeses and rich fish dishes, but in a few more years it will be a perfect truffle risotto or smoked quail match.

2005 Cherry Ridge Vineyard Syrah
Green Valley-Russian River Valley

This newly released, lush, cool-climate Syrah comes from the heart of the Green Valley appellation. It retains the focused blueberry fruit, bright acidity and moderate alcohol so ...morecharacteristic of our area, but at the same time offers an enveloping lushness. In the nose this wine entices with aromas of blueberry, black cherry and nutmeg. It follows in the mouth with wonderfully plush tannins that carry its dark flavors of black cherry, boysenberry and toffee through to a lingering sweet finish. This is a syrah that keeps you wanting more. It’s a wonderful match to salty cheeses like aged Gouda and Gruyere, or savory fowl or meat dishes. This is truly a wine that the winemaker enjoys, and hopes that you will too.

2003 Trifecta
Napa County

Our third Trifecta is also off to a great start! 2003 gave the grapes a long time to ripen while keeping sugars in check and acidity in balance.
A swirl of this deep garnet ...more wine relases elegant aromas of spicy berries, leather and sweet alcohol. The palate is bright with youthful acidity, highlighting flavors of blackberry, black cherry, cocoa with a generous amount of toasted coconut contributed by the American and French oak. Tannins are grippy and the finish is amazing.
This is a wine you'll want to have stashed in your cellar, to savor over the next 5 to 12 years to come. If you can't wait that long, enjoy it tonight with grilled steaks, spice-rubbed chicken and rosemary roasted lamb. A votr Sante!

2004 Phenomenon
St. Helena

Phenomenon embodies the pinnacle of winemaking at Benessere. It is produced only in quantities commensurate with our highest expectations. As such, we feel that Phenomenon is a win ...moree that is age-worthy and substantial enough to pair with hearty dishes as well as elegant fare. This wine has aromas and flavors of dark, ripe cherries and plums, with notes of creamy and toasty oak, and a hint of vanilla. It is perfect to share with friends and family and to toast all joyous occasions. It will age well for the next decade or more.

This is the fifth release of our “Super-Napan” estate blend called “Phenomenon”. The blending of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah is a relatively new “phenomenon” for California. As such, we think it is fitting to name our wine after this occurrence. It is also patterned after some of the “Super-Tuscan” wines of Italy; wines which have crossed the boundaries of regulations and tradition, utilizing superior grape clones and artisan blending to make the best wine possible.

2005 Overlook Chardonnay
Sonoma Valley

All the wine in the Overlook bot ...moretling is barrel fermented using indigenous yeasts that undergoes full malo-lactic fermentation.
