Malbec is a black, mellow grape variety originally grown in France, in the Loire Valley and Cahors. Long known as one of the six grapes used in the blending of red Bordeaux wine, it is increasingly celebrated as an Argentine varietal wine. It is also grown on Long Island New York and in the cooler regions of California. It has an extensive listing of synonyms, currently more than two hundred.

Malbec is a dark and richly flavored wine. It is a favorite varietal in Argentina for that reason. The 2005 is very fruity and smooth. Hints of spice and soft tannins make it compl ...moreex and wonderful to drink. This is a hearty wine and one of the best we've made. The growing season ended cool and the result is rich fruit flavors and great structure.

2004 Malbec

The ripe, juicy aromas of currants and cherries are what you first notice about Christine Andrew 2004 Malbec.

Malbec is one of the traditional Bordeaux varietals flourishi ...moreng in Lodi. The areas Mediterranean climate of warm, dry summers amid rich fertile soil create an ideal environment for growing Malbec. These grapes have similar characteristics to that of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and are often times rich but delicate.

Malbec tends to be best paired with any red meat dish but can also go great with Mexican, Indian or Italian fare.

2003 Malbec, Diamond Ridge
Lake County

Grown atop the Diamond Ridge, the grapes for this Malbec were hand-selected with great care. These very fragile and thin-skinned grapes require a lot of sun and heat. The result is ...more a very big wine with intense flavors of plum, pepper and coffee. Would pair nicely with steak or other red meats.
