Details: Lost Canyon Winery is thrilled to offer the following in its monthly series on wine and food appreciation: Jill Giacomini Basch, of Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company January 19th from 4:00-6:00 PM at Lost Canyon Winery Cheese Tasting and Lecture, Wine Pairing We here in the Bay Area are very fortunate to be sitting at the epicenter of some of the best contemporary cheese in the world. All across California – northern and southern – a number of dedicated artisans are shaking up old notions of taste and craftsmanship and setting new standards in innovation and sustainability. Jill Giacomini Basch, one of the owners of Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company, makers of the award-winning Point Reyes Original Blue, will take us on a tour of some of her favorite local artisanal cheeses. In addition, she’ll lead the class in understanding what defines a specialty cheese, an artisanal cheese and a farmstead cheese (yes, there is a difference!). She’ll also share her insight about the entirety of the process, from farm to table. We’ll enjoy Jill’s favorites with a selection of Lost Canyon’s cheese-friendly Syrahs.
