Details: Become your own master: learn about and hone your olfactory senses with spices and wine while enjoying a pre-Memorial Day barbecue dinner. Participants can also make a magic rub and wine pairing of their own with Chef/Owner Terry Paulding and Winemaker/Owner Elaine Villamin in the Paulding & Company Kitchen (set-location for “Top Chef” San Francisco and Clint Eastwood’s upcoming movie “Hereafter”). Stay and watch "Top Chef Masters" knowing you just cooked in a "Top Chef" kitchen too. This inaugural “Sense Lab” will concentrate on two facets of spice-- elusive flavors in wine, and spices that make a great rub for Memorial Day barbecue. You’ll go home with an envelope of your custom blend after doing some interesting experiments with smell and taste, some of them enhanced by the absence of sight—you’ll be wearing blindfolds! Can you identify the olfactory keys to the flavors? And to celebrate our inaugural “Sense Lab”, our friends at Star Meats will be offering special pricing for their luscious and organic cuts of meat for your holiday weekend. Participants will be blindfold while trying different spices and wines. 8-9PM – Dinner: Baby-back ribs, herb potato salad with spring peas, and coleslaw. 9PM – Experiment: Make your own inspired spice rub before the Big Show. 10PM – The show begins! Pull up a chair and have some fun cheering for your favorite chef.
