But hot as these days may be, we have two summer steals on our tasting counters this Saturday that are even hotter. This weekend, a ten-spot gets you a bottle you’ll want to sip by the pool (or in the comfort of your cranked air conditioning)…with change!
2010 Jacob Heims Steep Slope Riesling:
One of our favorite Rieslings from the Mosel region of Germany is back in stock just in time to put a chill on these hot summer days. With just the right balance of stone fruit sweetness and refreshing acidity, chill this aromatic $9 white down and serve alongside cool Asian salads and sushi.
2010 Faustino VII Rioja:
Bodegas Faustino has been turning out great Rioja for 150 years, and the 2010 Faustino VII Rioja is a real crowd pleaser with plenty of red fruits, tobacco, spice, and vanilla…all for $7.99 on sale.
The 2010 Faustino VII is made from 100% Tempranillo and aged in American oak for ten months before being bottled. There are notes of nice ripe cherries, some dried berries, tobacco, spice, and a little vanilla. This medium-bodied Rioja has good structure and red fruits that linger on the finish.
