This week's "Microbrew Monday" selections pay homage to the East Coast baseball teams. We've chosen states that have great teams and great beer. Stop into any one of our three locations this Monday, May 16th from 5 – 7 PM to sample any four of these craft beers.
•Philadelphia Phillies: Troegs HopBack Amber Ale- This ale is a deep amber color with a creamy head and a bold, spicy slightly floral aroma and character. Balanced with caramel malt, this well-rounded amber ale has an up-front floral spice that builds with a flush of sweetness.
•Boston Red Sox: Harpoon Summer Ale- Harpoon Summer Ale is a "Kolsch" style ale—so named for the city of Cologne (Köln) Germany where this lighter style of ale originates. Brewed with ale yeast it is straw gold in color and light bodied with a mild flavor. The hopping levels provide a crisp, dry finish that makes this beer particularly refreshing.
•Baltimore Orioles: Flying Dog In-Heat-Wheat- This is a German style wheat beer known as a Hefeweizen. Light gold in color with spicy notes on the nose, the taste is a good dose of bready wheat leading to a nice lemon zest finish.
•New York Mets: Brooklyn Pennant Ale- This honey-colored English Style pale ale has a brisk malt palate and finely balanced hop character with toasty, biscuit flavors that leads to a nice smooth finish.
• Atlanta Braves: Terrapin Rye Squared- Double the malt, double the hops, and double the flavor of the original Rye Pale Ale recipe. With its mammoth hop aroma, bitterness and flavor, this beer is not for the faint at heart. The Rye Squared clocks in at a hefty 9.5% ABV.
•New York Yankees: McSorley's Irish Black Lager- This lager is pitch black in color with sweet malt and chocolate on the nose. A hint of bitterness on the palate is balanced by flavors of roasted malt that leads to notes of strong coffee on the finish.
